Check out Kate Kennard Trail, a quick out and back path just under 2 miles long, named after the daughter of a former Mayor.

If you’re in the town of Briarcliff and looking for an easy local trail to try out, Kate Kennard Trail is good for getting in a quick run or walk. It’s a straight line path the whole way. You’ll know you’ve reached the end of the path when you see a sign that marks the beginning of a road leading to private property. The start of Kate Kennard Trail is roughly a tenth of a mile of uneven ground through a wooded area. Watch out for loose rocks and large roots that stick out, especially when taking several steps downhill. After this first stretch, you’ll reach a somewhat mossy, yet paved trail. On the paved path, you’ll see both trees and trickling streams that occasionally lead into small waterfalls to your right and left.

This trail is located on the side of Long Hill Road West. Note that roadside parking is rather limited. The small parking area at the trailhead will fit only 4-5 cars at a time. While on the trail, you might find families out with their kids for a walk, especially since it’s located next to a gated community with access to the trail. Kate Kennard is also dog friendly as long as all dogs are kept leashed. Though it’s a short trail and may not be the most scenic, it is undoubtedly quite peaceful and an easy way to enjoy the outdoors.
