Description

Added by Korey Taylor

This beautiful 5.4 mile loop takes you from a rocky, cacti strewn trail, through a peaceful pine tree forest, and back down again. It's close to Albuquerque and the perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Loop: South Crest Trail > Lower Faulty Trail > Upper Faulty Trail > South Crest Trail

The trail starts at the Canyon Estates Trailhead along the South Crest Trail. You'll follow this trail for 0.8 miles before you reach the junction for the Lower Faulty Trail. This is the steepest part of the trail but it levels off rather quickly and offers beautiful views of the valley below.. You'll follow along the Lower Faulty Trail for 1.3 miles until you reach the the Upper Faulty Trail junction. The Upper Faulty is my favorite part of the trail that takes you through serene pine forest for another 1.3 miles. The Upper Faulty Trail will rejoin the South Crest Trail and you'll head South (left) at the trail junction for 2 miles before you're back at the parking lot.
