A ride on idyllic and quiet country roads

Cycle through one of the most beautiful areas of New Jersey, the Sourland Mountain Preserve area with acres of forest, wetlands, and farmland. For a shorter ride you can park at Hopewell Valley Central High School and depart from there on Pennington-Harbourton Road to Scotch Road and Bear Tavern Roads. Further north and closer to Montgomery, you can park on and depart from Ridge Road, heading north to Wertsville Road, then looping back south via Long Hill Road. This ride is longer and is closer to 20 miles roundtrip.

The views are spectacular and many of the roads in this region are generally quiet and free from motor vehicle traffic. This area is popular among cyclists so it is likely that you will cross paths with others enjoying the scenery. It is popular for locals to stop in Hopewell for lunch and visit Sourland Cycles to mingle with other cyclists.
