Hike around Ouzoud Watefalls

Ouzoud waterfalls (or more commonly in Morocco, Cascades d'Ouzoud) is the name of several waterfalls that empty into the El-Abib river gorge. The falls are near the village of Tanaghmeilt approximately150 km northeast of Marrakech. Ouzoud means "the act of grinding grain" in Berber. This seems to be confirmed by the frequent mills in the region.

The waterfalls are approached from their top, where you can park your car. There you have two options. A path on the left takes you to a viewpoint where you can witness the falls from a close distance. A path on the right though takes you to a hiking path olive trees that eventually allows you to approach the waterfalls base. This is the most amazing place to be since the falls reveal their full size and magnificence. The cyclic route then ascends and takes you back to the parking lot.

The trail is very easy and you wont need a guide to complete it. You will pass from several mills, smalls shops and even a camping area before you reach the base of the falls. The ascent, although steep, is not really difficult because of the existence of steps and many viewpoints where you stop and admire the view.

At the starting point of the loop you will also find small shops and restaurants. Make sure you have enough water before you start, as it can be quite hot during the day.
