Swim in Cenote Car Wash

Rancho Viejo, Mexico

Description

Added by Neonconflagrations

Cenote Car Wash is on the modest end compared to other nearby cenotes, with basic developments like a jumping platform, tables, snacks and drinks for sale and equipment rental. However the pool itself is an eye-catchingly beautiful blue pool of water surrounded by lush jungle, located 9km from central Tulum.

Cenote Car Wash, known locally as Cenote Aktun-Ha, received its name for a time when area cab drivers would park adjacent to the pool to wash their cars. Those times are past, and the cenote today remains under the ownership of a friendly family.

Cenote Car Wash is probably the most reasonably-priced in the area, and certified divers often visit to descend to its 16 meter depths to check out the underwater formations.

For swimmers, the water is clear and great to bring or rent a snorkel and mask at. Floating on your back while watching the clouds drift across the sky above the trees here is unbeatable. There are various entry steps around the cenote and a 3m tall jumping platform.

Life jackets (MX$30), snorkel equipment (MX$30), lockers (MX$20) and towels (MX$30 + id for deposit) are available for rent.

Cenote Car Wash is open daily from 8am-6pm. Admission is MX$50 per person.
