SUP in Remote Cove near Punta Cabras, Baja

Originally added by Holly Mandarich

A seemingly unreal gem.

Just near Punta Cabras, Baja California, Mexico you'll find this splendor of a cove! Great for supping, low key surfing, and swimming.

If you're coming from the south, just before you reach Punta Cabras you'll find yourself driving on dirt roads following the coastline of the Pacific (pretty rad stuff). As you are driving down these dirt roads you'll see a cove with rock formations and dispersed rock fire rings along the top overlooking it. This is your spot, it's hard to miss. Pull over, walk your boards, snacks and adventure gear down and make yourself at home.

We were here on a Wednesday in April and there was not another soul! The locals may swing through but it's not a large tourist area. The area is known as an expat community.

No restaurants or gas are nearby, so stock up!

It truly is tough to beat, as my friend Mike describes...

"We inflated Isle SUP inflatable SUP boards, in order to explore the rocks and sand and sea weed. The protection of our “undiscovered” coves provided ideal paddling, but the surf was up enough that was could still ride back to the beaches in style. Further north we found a wide sandy stretch of beach with great breaks. It was all ours, like some kind of 1960s surf-sploitation film come into being." - Mike Loots
