Photograph the Frozen Bay at Sandy Point

Rate this Adventure Sandy Point State Park

If you are looking for something both easy and beautiful to do along the bay in the winter, be sure to check out Sandy Point State Park.

The winter is the perfect time to explore this park as it does not draw in many visitors like it does in the summer months. You can walk along the sandy shores to photograph both the Chesapeake Bay Bridge as well as the bay itself. This is a very easy walk and could take you under 10 minutes and is perfect for if you are just passing through the area.

First, a few disclaimers: The parking lot may be "at capacity" if you choose to visit the park in the summer. Do not despair; there is an auxiliary lot of sorts just near the gate.

Bike or Run the Baltimore and Annapolis (B&A) Trail

Park in the big lot off of Dorsey Road to access the trailhead. Trail is accessible year-round and is dog-friendly. Can do the whole thing or make it into a shorter out-and-back.
