Description

Added by Brad Duncan

Gorgeous views, established campsites, and readily available water source make this an easy weekend getaway.

The trail head is located off of Route 40, just east of Greenbrier State Park. The parking area is located on the south side of Route 40 (left side heading west, right side heading east). This is a fairly easy 2.5 mile hike from the parking lot to the well established (and numbered) campsites near the overlook for a fairly "primitive" camping experience. There is an outhouse if you have wary campers with you as well. Campsites are first come first serve, and once you arrive to the end of the trail drop your gear off and then head over to the scenic overlooks. Some of the campsites are more established than others so be sure to look around for one that fits you/your group. Campfires are only permitted in campsites with established fire pits, so be sure to locate one prior to setting up if you need it. A portable water filter will be handy for the water source near the campsites instead of carrying it all in.
