Description
Added by Ben Groski
Enjoy an easy stroll along a boardwalk that loops through a peat bog. This one-mile loop gives you the chance to see various plants and wildlife exclusive to a bog.
To access the boardwalk you must park in the Bangor City Forest. From closest parking lot in Bangor its about .25 mile walk to the entrance. Take the trail on the far right of parking. You will eventually come across a small station with an information kiosk. The start of the boardwalk is behind the kiosk to the right. From here, walk along the boardwalk, following the arrows at the split. Remember to stay off the bog, at the ecosystem here is fragile. Along the boardwalk there are seven informational signs that tell about the biomes you cross and potential animals you might see. Every 200 ft. there are also benches to sit and relax. The loop will put you back where you started and just go the way you came to return to the parking lot, or explore the many trails of the Bangor City Forest.
