Located in Monrovia Canyon Park, Monrovia Falls are easy to access via a family-friendly and dog-friendly hike. It's a relatively short distance with some mild incline and plenty of shade, so it's perfect for beginners or those looking to do a quick trail run.

Monrovia Falls is closed indefinitely due to the Bobcat Fire and mudslides. Read more on the CityofMonrovia.org website.

The Monrovia Falls are at the end of the main trail located in Monrovia Canyon Park. The park is easy to locate and has ample parking. Keep in mind you do have to pay a fee of $6 on weekends and $5 on weekdays. Additionally, all cars need to exit the parking areas at 5PM. Alternatively, you can park in the neighborhood outside of the park and add an extra mile to your hike.

This hike is perfect for beginners and is both family and dog-friendly! It's also a great way to change up the desert scenery found in the majority of hikes in LA County.

There are several starting points to access the main trail that leads to the falls. Starting from the higher parking lot provides you with a distance of 1.5 miles out and back. Once on the trail, follow it up the ridge and directly to the falls. It can get narrow at times, so be mindful of those who want to pass you as you enjoy the scenery.

Keep in mind this area is bear territory, so be sure to pack out any trash and dispose of it in the proper trash cans provided at the entrance!

Monrovia Falls Reviews

This is an easy hike to a small waterfall. Good for all skill types and family friendly

This is a good hike for any day. There is shade throughout the entire trail. Not too crowded and the trail is marked so you know exactly where you’re going. If you park on the street it’s completely free and you get almost 5 miles total. You can also drive up to the parking lot for $5 or $6 dollars depending on if the parking is full or not (It’s only a 2 mile hike from the parking lot). I took my husky and she loved it. My girlfriend and I take her on most hikes but this one she seemed the most comfortable with. There is plenty of space to share with people going both ways. We were about 5 feet away from a deer and went right past it almost missing it. Overall it was a good time getting out with the family. Always be sure to bring water and maybe a little snack to eat when you get to the waterfall.

It is quick and easy, barely an incline all the way following the trickle to the waterfall. Even after all the rain of February, the falls were still a bit thin and not much pooling of water at the base. But a perfect hike with a dog or kids in the full shade with a nice reward at the end.
