At the end of a simple but steep hike in Tuna Canyon lies a labyrinth on a mountaintop with impressive views of the ocean and the Los Angeles area.
This is a simple but steep 2.4 mile round-trip hike to a clearing on a mountaintop in Topanga/Malibu, about an hour's drive west of downtown LA.
At the end of the hike you'll reach a clearing with incredible views. On a cloudy or foggy day, it feels like you're floating above the clouds; on a clear day, you'll have a panoramic ocean view and may be able to see the Santa Monica Pier and the LA skyline.
One part of the clearing is home to a large, very climbable oak tree and a bench, perfect for relaxing or watching the sun set. A short walk away is a stone labyrinth built by locals. Its composition changes over time as people leave dedications to loved ones and remove and replace shells and stones.
The hike is very dog-friendly, and you should be prepared to see several dogs off-leash if you visit during a busier time.
