Fontanillis and Dicks Lake are a 10.4 mile out and back trail in Desolation Wilderness near South Lake Tahoe. The trailhead is at Eagles Falls at Emerald Bay. The hike provides the most scenic views and the trail is easiest to use from April to October.
Bring bear cans for bears, and be aware that rattlesnakes and mosquitos are also common on the trail. Fontanillis and Dicks Lakes provide secluded campsites and great fishing. Campsites are on the north shore of Dicks Lake and at either end of Fontanillis Lake. Make sure you have proper permits if you wish to spend the night!
