Explore Emerald Bay by Boat from Zephyr Cove

Glenbrook, Nevada

Description

Added by Josiah Roe

Traverse the full width of one of the most beautiful alpine lakes in the world and explore one of its most beautiful features: Emerald Bay.

Zephyr Cove on the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe is a fantastic starting point for a host of water sports and activities including a boat ride across Lake Tahoe to explore Emerald Bay.

To get to Zephyr Cove take Highway 50 north for 7 miles out of South Lake Tahoe and turn left into the Zephyr Cove Resort. As an alternative you can take Highway 28 till it turns into Highway 50 from Incline Village for 20 miles. There is parking all along the beach front.

You can either book a cruise on the Zephyr Cove M.S. Dixie II (a fantastic vintage paddlewheel) or on the modern Tahoe Paradise. You can also rent boats from the Zephyr Cove Marina.

To get to Emerald Bay from Zephyr Cove by boat, leave the boating area heading WSW in a straight line for about 6 miles, aiming for what looks like a low point / gap. Eventually you will see other boats filing into the Bay and buoys marking its entrance. Do drive slowly once in the Bay.
