Bayview Campground is true gem: near beautiful Emerald Bay, and a trailhead for access into Desolation Wilderness.

Bayview is a first come, first serve campground in South Lake Tahoe, halfway between Emerald Bay and Cascade Lake. You can catch an amazing sunrise over Emerald Bay! Large pine trees provide ample shade, and each site is equipped with a picnic table, grill, and bear boxes. Bring plenty of water - campground potable water is seasonal and is not always available.

If you wish to go into Desolation Wilderness, you must have a day-use permit (available at the trailhead). Overnight permits for Desolation Wilderness backpacking must be secured in advance online.

Camp at Bayview Campground Reviews

Heads up! Bayview campground has been converted to day use only. Its a large parking lot and picnic area with a couple of pit toilets. Cost is $12 to park. Trailhead access to cascade falls and desolation wilderness & maggies peak.

One of my favorite campgrounds. It overlooks emerald bay and has crazy views. Is very popular though

Beautiful view point overlooking Emerald Bay! Get there early because parking fills up quick! This is one of my favorite campgrounds, and I can't wait to go back!
