4 Places I'm Dreaming About for Later in 2020

Being cooped up at home means I have plenty of time to browse the internet and get excited about places I want to visit.

By: Kyle Frost + Save to a List

While travels for the next few months are likely halted for most of us, this crisis will pass. I've been spending some of my time getting distracted and finding places I want to consider traveling in 2020 and beyond. Personally, I'm driven to visit places with loads of outdoor adventures, and hopefully a bit off the main tourist path.

Tasmania

This rugged island off the coast of Australia has a reputation for wild, wild weather and challenging conditions. All the better for hardy adventurers who want to explore and appreciate the beauty of this island. There are some pretty incredible coastlines here, and a few great circuit treks, like the Jerusalem Circuit, that I'd love to check out.

Northern Ireland

I've never been to the UK, but the rugged cliffs, greenery, and castles of Northern Ireland sure seem like a fun trip. I hear a lot about Scotland and the Isle of Skye (which is also on my to-do list), but far less about Northern Ireland (which is NOT the same country as Ireland).

Kyrgyzstan

I mean, look at that landscape. Just look at it. How could that not be on your bucket list? (the top photo is also Kyrgyzstan) With sweeping vistas, little-traveled mountain ranges, and mind-blowing natural beauty everywhere, this Central-Asian country is high on my list.

Corsica

An idyllic island that's part of France, Corsica has a popular long-distance hiking trail that'd I'd love to do -- the GR-20. This 180 km trail traverses the island north --> south and most hikers do it in ~15 days. I'd love to take a "fastpacking" approach to this one, as there are many refuges along the way and you can pack pretty light.

We want to acknowledge and thank the past, present, and future generations of all Native Nations and Indigenous Peoples whose ancestral lands we travel, explore, and play on. Always practice Leave No Trace ethics on your adventures and follow local regulations. Please explore responsibly!
