About this place

Great short hike to an iconic Red River Gorge landmark offering panoramic views!

The trailhead parking lot is located just off of KY 715. If coming from the North you will cross the Red River at Osborne Bend and continue up the steep hill until the very top. The parking lot access road is in a hairpin curve at the top of the hill. It is marked very well with signs so it is very easy to find!

This trail makes for an excellent rainy day hike due to the fact that it is higher elevation and is paved avoiding virtually all the mud. Starting at the trailhead in the parking lot, hikers follow a paved trail at the end of the parking lot out the ridge. You can choose to take the 0.9 mile loop either direction, however, I prefer crossing the top of Sky Bridge and then dropping down below. The trail going out the ridge takes you directly across the top of the Sky Bridge offering great views of the area in every direction. Once crossing Sky Bridge, hikers will descend below and be greeted with a view of the arch they just crossed making for a great photo opportunity. The trail then hugs closely to the ridge as it winds back towards the parking lot. Just before reaching the parking lot, hikers will reach a metal staircase which leads them out of the valley. During rainy season there is often a waterfall located here as well to add to your scenery.

This is a great short hike to get a taste of what the gorge has to offer!
