A great trail for trail running, kayaking, or a great hike.

The Hematite Trail is a great loop for hikers and trail runners located in the heart of Land Between the Lakes Wilderness. Beginning your hike near the picnic grounds adjacent to the Nature Station, this hike is great year round and is good for all skill levels, including families.

From awesome lake views, to hiking over boardwalks above the swamps and bottomlands, you are sure to see wildlife and wildflowers on this trail.

The path is well marked and also is a part of the Land Between the Lakes Water Trail which is a great stop for kayakers, canoes, and paddle boards. That trail is also marked and put ins are located near the trail head.

Hike Hematite Lake Reviews

A friend and I went as our first hike and it was really nice. We did go a couple days after it rained so it was a little muddy. It was an easy hike and very pretty. We saw a snake (I believe a cottonmouth) so just stay aware of your surroundings even though it’s an easy hike.
