Fushimi-Inari Shrine
Fushimi-ku, Japan
Description
Added by Scott Nichols
Distance: 4 kms Duration: 2 hours
This place is absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
From Kyoto, you want to jump on the JR train line towards the ancient capital of Japan, Nara. You will only ride the train for about 10 - 15 minutes before you get off at the Fushimiinari stop. From the train station, you will walk directly across the street towards one of the large orange toriis. From this point, follow the path as it leads you back into the forest and into the 4km looped trail lined with the bright orange toriis.
There are over 32,000 toriis throughout the length of the mesmerizing shinto shrine, a shrine that represents the Japanese' ode to rice.

Fushimi-Inari Shrine Reviews
Nice area! Really crowded during the afternoon. Highly recommended to do this hike in the morning or late evening. The farther you get along the trail, the easier it’ll be to take photos without crowds.
5.0
This hike is absolutely one of the most beautiful I’ve done. The surrounding area is so calm and beautiful! Really recommend coming very early in the morning, because after 11/12 o’clock it will get crowded.. also try to go during weekdays instead of the busy weekends.
