About this place

Spend 2 days and 1 night trekking through the Thar Desert on camel back. Along this guided trek you will experience local food, villages, and an unforgettable landscape!

If you are in the town of Jaisalmer signing up for the camel trek is a must. We took an overnight train from New Delhi to Jaisalmer, which is probably the best option if that's the city you're coming from.

When you get off the train, be prepared to be bombarded by tons of locals all trying to get you to come to their hotel and sign up for their camel trek. While most of them will probably be pretty reputable, I suggest staying at the Shahi Palace and taking their camel tour. The hotel itself is right new the fort (the main attraction in the city) and has clean rooms for about $9/night and comes with a rooftop restaurant and bar. If you get off the train and just find a taxi, they can take you to the hotel.

The trek they offer is 2 days and 1 night and they provide the food and bedding that you will need. They start the trek off by taking you through a local village and then to the sand dunes. At night you sleep on open cots underneath the stars, it's an absolutely unforgettable experience. I must also warn you though, riding a camel is an incredibly uncomfortable, but definitely worth the new experience!

You'll be hobbling around
Definitely something everyone needs to try! You will be walking like a grandpa/ma once you hop off. Pretty cool to camp under the stars ...
