Description

Marshall Ridge via Fishhook Creek Trailhead is a short hike that offers spectacular views of the Sawtooth Mountains. Particularly beautiful in autumn when the aspen trees are golden.

Start your hike at the Fishhook Creek Trailhead by Redfish Lake. Park in the dirt parking lot across the street. Follow the trail (mostly flat) a few hundred feet to the first fork. Here, continue straight to Fishhook Creek. After another short bit on the fairly flat trail, which leads through a gentle forest, you'll come to another fork. Take the trail to the right, which goes up the side of the ridge to Marshall Lake. Climb through an aspen forest to the top of the ridge, where you will be rewarded with an outstanding view of the Sawtooth Mountains (Heyburn, Iowa, Horstmann, Thompson peaks). Stop at the top to enjoy the view, or continue along the ridge line to find trails to Marshall Lake and Thompson Peak.
