Camp at Redfish Lake
Idaho › Redfish Lake Visitor Center
Added by Matt O'Connor
Redfish Lake is a great basecamp for tons of hikes near nearby. Want to get out on the lake, there is a lodge with rental sups and canoes. At Redfish, there are 8 campgrounds with a 100 plus sites.
There are plenty of camping spots all within walking distance of the lake or the outlet stream. There are also tons of hikes in the surrounding Sawtooth Mountain Range. The lake is known for its historic Sockeye Salmon runs. The lake is very close to Stanley Idaho and leads into the salmon river. The view from the lake rivals places like the Canadian rockies or the Dolomites. There are spots for campers and Rv's but tent camping is easier.
If having four walls is more your speed, you can reserve a room at the Redfish Lake Lodge.
- This lake is a car camping lake so a large backpack is not necessary
- Warm Layers
- Sleeping Bag
- Food: There is a lodge with a restaurant for food but feel free to bring your own food
- Bathing Suit and Sunscreen: most days it is sunny
- Wetsuit: The lake is not warm so if you plan to bring a boat or are planning on swimming for a long time, you'll want one
