Visit the Stykkishólmur Lighthouse
Details
Added by Elyse Clark
This is a short walk in a quaint coastal town to a lighthouse with great views of the town, birds, and coastal islands.
From the parking area which is adjacent to where the Ferry Baldur loading area is, walk up the hill and shortly after you'll see the brightly-colored lighthouse.
It gets very windy here and there are birds everywhere. From the lighthouse you can look out over some islands between the Snæfellsnes peninsula and the Westfjords, as well as look back over the town.
Once finished, take a stroll around this quaint town, or head back on the road you came in on to complete a drive around Snæfellsnes peninsula.

Reviews
Leave a ReviewA nice walk
I have always been in love with the movie "The Secret life of Walter Mitty" and guess what, the little town of Stykkisholmur was one of the filming locations! Visiting the lighthouse provides a nice view of the town and the surrounding area, however I cannot really say that it is something really impressive, especially considering the rest of the landscapes that you witness in Iceland. As the OP mentions, it is a very short and easy walk to the lighthouse and it is one of the things that you can easily do if you stop in the town.
