Waimea Falls is a leisurely hike through a tropical valley, which ends at a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole. This is a great hike for the whole family at approximately 2-miles roundtrip.
The hike to the Waimea Falls offers both the natural beauty of a tropical rainforest, as well as the unique, in situ opportunity to learn about local history. Although this hike can be crowded, it is definitely worthwhile to see and swim in this amazing Hawaiian waterfall.
The approximately mile-long, flat path to the falls is lined with larger-than-life, exotic flowers, while large trees loom above, providing a canopy over a good portion of the path. The trail can still get very hot, however, so make sure to bring enough water.
Luckily, relief from the heat lies at the end of this hike. The trail ends at the breathtaking Waimea Falls, where water plummets 50 feet into a cool, tropical swimming hole. Enjoy a dip in the cool water – there is a lifeguard on duty, and life vests and floaty toys are also available, free of charge. If you are feeling brave, you can climb onto one of the rocks beneath to falls and jump into the pool.
Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy while you dry off in the sun, after your swim – there is stadium style seating near the falls, where you can relax before heading back down the trail.
Also make sure to allow time to make stops on the trail: along the way, there are numerous archeological sites—including dwellings, animal pens, and burial sites—as well as signs detailing the history of the valley and local people.
Directions: The hike to Waimea Falls is located in the Waimea Falls Park, across the street from the world famous Waimea Bay, on the North Shore of Oahu. There is a fee required to gain access into the park, but parking is plentiful.

Waimea Falls Reviews
Another review said wrong location, I’m pretty sure they just didn’t go far enough. Waimea Falls park itself is beautiful, and you’ll get to see many native plants, and some native Hawaiian cultural sites. If you walk far enough into the valley, you will reach Waimea Falls. The falls are often crowded and require a life jacket, so I usually go to experience the rest of the park. They also offer volunteer opportunities, which allow you to explore the park, as well as tours and other activities. There is a restaurant, and several other features within the park.

We followed the road all the way until the end. There was parking, but totally wrong park.
