Description

Added by Sophia Morgan

Aiea Loop Trail is a 4.8-mile loop in Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area, that offers a mix of shaded forest, ridge-line views, and jungle scenery. The trail winds through a mix of eucalyptus, Norfolk pine, and native koa trees. Along the way, you’ll get occasional glimpses of Pearl Harbor and the H-3 freeway cutting through the mountains. The terrain is mostly packed dirt with some roots and rocks, but nothing too technical—just enough to keep things interesting. It’s a good choice for trail runners or hikers looking for a moderate workout without a brutal climb. After rain, expect mud, but otherwise, it’s a well-maintained, enjoyable loop.

The Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area is dog friendly, and has bathrooms and facilities. There is ample parking and space to relax and connect with nature without having to get too far out of the city.
