Baby Beach
Koloa, Hawaii
Description
Added by Outbound
Tucked just west of Poʻipū Beach, Baby Beach is a tranquil and family-friendly little cove that offers safe, shallow water and a quiet spot to relax away from the crowds.
What It’s Like & What to Expect
- The beach is a crescent-shaped protected cove, naturally sheltered by a reef just offshore, which keeps waves mild and water calm.
- Water depth remains shallow—often ankle to calf depth—for a good distance, making it ideal for young children, toddlers, or those who prefer easy wading.
- Though quiet, it’s not a secret spot—visitors often praise how peaceful it feels compared to busier nearby beaches.
- Snorkeling is possible near calmer zones, particularly by the reef areas—visitors report seeing fish and turtles.
- Because the bottom is rocky in parts, wear water shoes or be cautious walking in.
Access, Facilities & Tips
- How to get there: From the Poʻipū roundabout, take Lawai Road (Spouting Horn Road) and then turn onto Hoʻona Road. Public access lies between houses #5142 and #5152.
- Parking & Access: Street parking is limited—first-come, first-served. The walkway is nestled between residences, so the entrance is subtle.
- Facilities & Lifeguards: There are no lifeguards stationed at Baby Beach, and there are no beach facilities (restrooms, showers) directly on site.
- Shade & Amenities: Little natural shade on the sand—bring an umbrella or sun protection.
- Safety Considerations:
- Check wave and surf conditions—calm most days, but winter swells or unusual conditions can make it rougher.
- Be careful with the rocky edges and reef—you may encounter sea urchins or sharp rock.
- Never leave children unattended; even shallow water can shift.
- Maintain respectful distance if you spot turtles or seals—these are protected marine animals.
Why Visit Baby Beach?
- Perfect spot for young children or waders—shallow, calm, safe for little ones.
- A quieter alternative to the busier Poʻipū Beach Park—less congestion, more peace.
- Good spot for snorkeling in calm zones, especially near reefs and clear water edges.
- Excellent for watching sea turtles—they often swim just offshore near the reef.
- Beautiful sunset and sunrise views—its south-shore location makes it ideal for golden hour beach strolls.
- Because it’s small and tucked away, it feels like a local gem—not overdeveloped or crowded.

Baby Beach Reviews
Baby Beach in Koloa is a great little spot if you’re looking for a safe, calm place with kids. The lagoon in front of the beach keeps the waves small, so it feels protected and easy for little ones to splash around. We even spotted a sea turtle here—just remember to keep a safe distance so it can rest undisturbed. Parking can be a bit tricky since you need to park along the street in front of rental houses, and there aren’t any formal amenities (no bathrooms or showers). The bottom gets pretty rocky once you step into the water, so it’s good to watch your footing. That said, the calm water and family-friendly vibe make it worth it.
