Description

Perched on the northwestern tip of Corfu, Cape Drastis is one of the island’s most striking and photogenic natural landmarks. With its dramatic limestone cliffs, hidden coves, and surreal rock formations jutting into the Ionian Sea, this secluded cape offers a picture-perfect escape from the busier beaches and towns of Corfu.

Location

  • Where: Peroulades village, Northwestern Corfu, Greece

  • Coordinates: 39°46’24.3”N 19°39’55.6”E

  • Located just a short drive from the popular Loggas Beach and about 45 minutes from Corfu Town

What to Expect

  • A short, unpaved road leads from the village of Peroulades to the Cape Drastis viewpoint. You can either drive down cautiously (weather-permitting) or park near the gate and walk ~10–15 minutes to the edge of the cliffs.

  • The main viewpoint offers breathtaking panoramic views of white cliffs descending into turquoise waters, with unique sandstone formations stretching like fingers into the sea.

  • The area is less crowded than other tourist spots, especially in the early morning or late afternoon.

  • While there is no official hiking trail, adventurous visitors can explore several footpaths down to hidden swimming coves—best done with good shoes and caution.

  • Swimming and boating access may be possible depending on sea conditions and local guidance.

Accessibility & Guidelines

  • No entrance fee or permit required

  • Best visited in dry conditions – road access can become tricky when wet

  • No official parking lot or facilities (bathrooms, shops) – bring water and snacks

  • Dogs are allowed but must be leashed and watched carefully near cliffs

  • Not recommended for people with mobility challenges due to the uneven terrain

Best Time to Visit

  • Golden hour (sunrise or sunset) provides the most magical lighting for photography

  • Visit in late spring to early fall for the best weather and visibility

  • Try to avoid mid-day crowds in peak summer months (July–August)

Optional Adventures

  • Some local boat tours offer sea-level views of Cape Drastis, stopping for a swim or snorkeling session in the clear waters.

  • Combine with nearby attractions like:

    • Loggas Beach (famous for sunset views)

    • Canal d’Amour in Sidari (a romantic swim spot)

    • Traditional dining in Peroulades village

Tips Before You Go

  • Wear comfortable walking shoes – the final walk to the cape is on gravel and can be steep

  • There are no safety barriers – be careful around cliff edges

  • Bring a camera or drone for epic shots

  • Respect the quiet atmosphere – it’s a great place for solitude and reflection

Cape Drastis is a must-see for travelers seeking a peaceful, scenic escape on Corfu. Whether you’re chasing postcard views, golden sunsets, or a secret swimming cove, this coastal wonder delivers unforgettable beauty with every step.
