Fort Yargo Lake Loop Trail

This is quite an extensive trail taking you through remote sections of the woods, along the lake, and through big grassy meadows. Great for a sunny day hike - lots of chances for birding and wildlife spotting as the trail is generally not too crowded. Most of this trail is fairly level making it pretty accessible to hikers of all levels. Trail markings could be improved so I suggest downloading the route beforehand or using a compass! We ended up walking a total of about 7.2 miles perhaps due to missing a trail marking. Ft Yargo’s visitor center is great and this trail leaves from the picnic area making it the perfect spot to pack a lunch and enjoy the lakeside views.
