Explore the Le Brévent Summit Alpine Area

Begin this hike by either making the 3.5 hour hike from the town of Chamonix to the top of Le Brévent (roughly 4,900 ft gain), or take the Brévent cable car to the top.(31€ roundtrip). Once at the summit take a moment to enjoy the 360° view, the fun is only getting started. After getting your fill at the summit follow the trail leading southwest from the summit towards the big green alpine area opposite of the cable car. This trail if followed will eventually lead to the Merlet Nature Park, a journey that will undoubtedly lead you past big horn sheep, ibexes and chamois. 

Along the way there are countless incredible views, all along the ridge your just across the valley from Mont Blanc and the Graian Alps surrounding it. This is also a great alternative from the crowded Mont Blanc cable car, much less busy and about half the cost. In the alpine area below the Brévent there is some cool lakes and herds of sheep running around.  It's a very popular to take the cable car up and hike back down to Chamonix, there is also a cool little restaurant at the top of the first cable car. 

If you are planning on taking the cable car back down make sure to check with the hours before going up because once the last car leaves, you'll have to hike back down.
