SCUBA Dive Air Force (Eglin) Barge
Destin, Florida
Description
Added by Josh & Michele
Come dive this amazing artificial reef made out of a 100ft steel barge sunk in 1977.
SCUBA dive the Air Force Barge, AKA Englin Barge, located at Latitude 30.35415°, Longitude -86.49302°.
For this trip, I went through ScubaTech, a local Destin dive shop that rents dive gear, fills tanks, and takes groups out on various reef and wreck dives in the Destin area. They offer 3 hour and 4 hour trips.
ScubaTech took us out on the “Sea Cobra,” "...the fastest, most comfortable dive boat in Destin. She is 45′ of diving pleasure. The 'Sea Cobra' has a spacious deck with bench seats, tank racks, and two easy entry giant stride points. She also has two drop down ladders for easy access getting back on board the vessel. The 'Sea Cobra' has a large cabin for equipment storage and passenger comfort and is equipped with a clean marine toilet. Powered by twin 892 Detroit Diesel Engines, she will get you to the dive sites quickly, allowing divers maximum dive time and maximum FUN!"
There is plenty of aquatic life to see at Air Force (Englin) Barge, like sea cucumbers, starfish, and many different species of fish. The max depth ranges from 61-70ft, and has an average visibility of 21-25ft.
Be sure to bring your underwater camera(s) and take plenty of photos to show your family and friends. Have fun!

SCUBA Dive Air Force (Eglin) Barge Reviews
Having never been wreck diving, I didn't know what to expect. I was greeted by numerous amounts of aquatic life, using the wreck as an artificial reef. Very exciting!
