The coast of Ecuador has many amazing sites where anyone can practice this activity. One of the best sites is Parque Lago, near Guayaquil city.

In the last couple of years stand up paddleboard has became one of the most popular activities all around the world, and Ecuador did joined the trend.

Parque Lago is located just 26 km from Guayaquil city. It´s a large reservoir that provides water to Santa Elena Peninsula, but it´s also a national recreation area where many (non motor) activities, such as stand up paddleboard and kayak, can be done.

In the rainy season, due to the vegetations covering the lagoon is imposible to practice any activity, but as the rainy season ends the lagoon clears and you´ll have plenty of space to practice stand up paddleboard y kayak.

As Parque Lago is a known wetland, many migratory birds can be sighted. Bird watchers have identifies around 160 different species of birds.

As the water in the reservoir is for agriculture and human consumption and also there are dangers related to the hydric transfer system is important for you to know that the activities in the lagoon can only be practiced with a certified instructor or tour guide. You can´t just go to Parque Lago and get in the lagoon without permission.
