Kayak Cape Henlopen State Park

Lewes, Delaware

Description

Added by Abby Shepard

Paddle the Delaware Bay while catching views of the lighthouse, shore birds, fishing pier, and maybe even dolphins

Cape Henlopen State Park is located at the mouth of the Delaware Bay where the Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. Gaze over the sandy cape itself to see the Atlantic while paddling through the calmer bay water. During the summer months, it is common to see osprey, dolphins, or even schools of rays and skates gliding through the water below.

Kayaks launch from the fishing pier beach. To access this beach, enter the park and follow signs to the fishing pier. Park in the lot by the pier, and take the short sandy trial from the picnic pavilion down to the beach.

Kayaks are launched from anywhere on the beach, and kayak rentals are available in the shack next to the bait and tackle shop.

Enjoy!
