Description

Red Rock Lake offers incredible reflections - great at sunrise or after sunset. The lake is peaceful with no crowds, but closely located to Brainarid Lake for easy access to hiking trails.

If you are looking for great reflections, color and mountain peaks for your photos, this lake is a great place to start. The Brainard Lake Recreational Area has so much to do, but this is a stop not to miss.

It seems that everyone drives on by this little gem to get to Brainard Lake and the hiking trails. This is definitely worth the stop and great for sunrise or sunset shots. Check out all the beautiful hiking trails past Brained Lake while you are there. The area is open all summer and into October. The park will close and gates shut sometime in mid-October, but it is also an excellent place to snowshoe and cross-country ski.

This lake is off of Peak to Peak Highway (Hwy 72) right inside the Brainard Lake Recreational Area. It is about a 5 minute drive to the entrance station from Ward, CO. The elevation is about 10,500 feet.
