Description

Added by Outbound

Lookout Mountain has stunning views of Denver, Golden, and Boulder, and on a rare day, it's the perfect spot to watch sunrise over a sea of clouds.

Lookout Mountain sits just above Golden and provides one of the best easy-access viewpoints near Denver. The mountain provides numerous vantage spots along the road up, with the best at a rock outcropping just below Buffalo Bill's Gravesite & Museum (with easy parking).

If you're hoping to catch a sunrise above the clouds, wait for a foggy winter inversion and head to the top. You can also snowshoe the Lookout Mountain Trail and Chimney Gulch trail after a fresh snow. Be careful in the winter as many of the rocky areas will be covered in ice.

Lookout Mountain via Buffalo Bill Trail Reviews

Easy trail and the views are awesome of the mountains and city lights!

The top of Lookout Mountain has nice views, but the views get even better as you drop down the sides and stop to wander on the side trails. Lots of hummingbirds. Drive carefully around the masses of bikers, and keep an eye out for longboarders who are hard to see and don't appear to have any regard for cars or bikers.

There are great vistas here of the Front Range and Denver. What makes it so great is how close it is! From downtown Denver you can get here in about 20 minutes!
