Short and easy hike with access to Devils Thumb.
Corona Lake is an easy, short hike if you're pressed for time. It's scenic, secluded, and will put you in a great spot to hike to Devils Thumb the next day. There are two ways to reach Devils Thumb. This is considered the "easier" route because of the "lack of elevation gain." The sun and wind really take it's toll on you, though, so bring a hat, sunblock and lots of water.
The Hike to Devils Thumb starts at the top of Rollins Pass. After hiking a short distance you reach a steep incline, but don't worry is doesn't last long! After reaching the top of the incline you're at the top of the Continental Divide. You can see mountains and peaks in every direction!
The trail continues along the divide above treeline until you reach Devils Thumb. This is a great spot to have a little lunch and take in the scenery. Though the hike wasn't technical and there wasn't much elevation gain, the sun seemed to takes its toll on me. Be prepared for wind and direct sun most of the hike.
