Explore the backcountry of Villa de Leyva by bike

The trip starts at the immense main square in Villa de Leyva. Leave the square at the North-eastern corner. After a quarter mile the cobblestone street transitions into asphalt. Cross the little bridge and leave the city behind you. Be aware that you will need to share the road with cars and since most of the way is dirt road, it will get dusty when cars pass by.

The ride starts with a rather long uphill section. When you get to the fork, take the left street and continue the hilly and winding street. Once you reach the half way mark, you will see signs for La Pesquerita waterfalls. These are a couple of waterfalls that you can visit for 10,000 COP per person. They paved the way for visitors to see 3 of the 7 waterfalls, but if you are keen, you can continue behind he "end of the road" sign and discover the other waterfalls. At a certain point you need to start walking in the river though, so plan accordingly. 

Back with our bikes, the road continues pas the waterfalls and now you are hitting the nicest section. The path will lead you downhill for about 2 miles. Enjoy the scenic views and the little traffic on this small road. Whenever you hit a fork or intersection, make sure to stay to your left.

Once you got to the end of the downhill section, there is another climb of 1-2 miles waiting for you before yo can spot the town of Villa de Leyva again.
