There is lush grass on the island in spring and summer. On the saddle of the island, you will be paid with a great view of Fuyao archipelago and the East China Sea.

You may have two choices to the Island.

  • If you are currently to the south of the island, take the Chinese Bullet Train(CRH) to Taimushan (太姥山) Station. Take the regular bus to Yujing Pier (鱼井码头) then take a boat to the Island.
  • If you are to the north of the island, take Chinese Bullet Train (CRH) to Xiapu (霞浦) Station. Take bus to Sansha Pier (三沙码头) then take a boat to the Island.

When you arrive on the island, you can take a bus about 15 minutes to the terminal or walk (not recommended). You know you've arrived when you see a big lake. There will be various trails for you to follow and all of them trails are well-marked.

The trail "A" which I've done leads you to the saddle with a small lake (the 4th uploaded images shows this), and this is  the red trail. After about 1.0km of walk, there is a managed campsite beside the big lake (大天湖),where you don't have to settle down. But it will be perfect place to buy food, water and take a bath

After that, at the end of the big lake, a fork splits the trail, you have two choices:

  1. the downhill trail will take you about 4km walk and lead you to a cape, quite easy if you follow the main road. when you arrive on the cape, which is a good campsite, you will be surrounded by East China Sea here. Food and water for one day is needed if you camp here.
  2. Following the ascent trail, a small and narrow lake will soon come into view after a very short walk. Down to the saddle, there will be a great campsite with good view of  Fuyao archipelago. But do not camp beside the small lake to avoid pollution. Once you settle down, you can head further to climb up two hills which are side by side(3rd uploaded image), and you will have a great view of East China Sea. It is not steep, just about 100 meters ascent, supposed to be finish within 40 minutes. But there is no suitable campsite on the top of hills, so you should go back to the saddle for camping.

It is a day-hike as above says, and you can spend one more day to explore trail "B" on the map which leads you up to some other hills.
