Perfect for a short afternoon nature walk. Where you can go beach combing, swimming in the summer, walking, bird watching, camping, and enjoy the scenery.

Fillongley Park is located on Denman Island. To get there take the Denman Island Ferry from Buckley Bay, off Hwy #19A on central Vancouver Island. Take the Buckley Bay exit #101 from Hwy #19A. Once on the island, follow Denman Road to Swan Road. Turn left on Swan Road, then right on Beadnell Road all the way down to the parking lot and camping area.

There is a loop trail that takes you to a beautiful meadow in the park with interesting plants and a few foreign trees. Walk through the meadow and you will see another trail that heads back to the parking lot area. The forest in the park is filled with lush green ferns and very large Douglas firs and Cedar trees that are also partly covered in moss. The beach is also accessible and a good place for a swim or a picnic during the summer. On a clear day at the Fillongley beach you can see the mountain ranges off in the distance on Mainland BC and you have a great view of Hornby Island too.

The two creeks in the park are salmon spawning creeks so do not disturb the creeks especially in spawning season. Which are all varying times of the year due to different types of salmon. So be careful!

In my opinion the best time to visit Denman Island and its parks would be in the summer and early fall as there will be less rainy days but you can visit it anytime of year. If you have more time, head down to Boyle Provincial Park.

A great place to go for an afternoon walk or to camp near a beach on Denman Island. There is some pretty cool history at this park.
