Franey Mountain Loop
If you find yourself driving the Cabot Trail around Cape Breton, you can't miss out on the hike up to Franey Mountain. From the Cabot Trail, you will find the trailhead for Franey Mountain just north of the Clyburn River. Take a turn off onto Franey Road and follow it for about 1km to the parking lot.
This trail is a loop, and is steep and rugged at times. It's well groomed at the beginni...

Beautiful set of cabins, designed and built by the owner, Ton. Originally from the Netherlands, super nice and happy to share local hikes and adventures. Cabins are affordable and come with your own “comfort station”: a separate building, with your own toilet, sink, and shower.

In the morning we hiked to a scenic cliff side and were welcomed warmly by friendly staff. We spent the day at the private beach and riding around the dirt roads. It's an incredibly secluded area so be sure to bring enough suppli...

Moose have been known to frequent here, but unfortunately on our trip, we did not get to see one. Gives us more reason to come back. It took us about 35-40 minutes out-and-back, but ...
