Description

Smith Mountain Trail is an awesome day hike located near Glendora, California. This out-and-back trail offers great views of the Los Angeles National Forest and the potential for continuation to Bear Creek for even more variety of scenery.

Smith Mountain is a moderately strenuous hike with an elevation change of ~3,200 feet over 6.7 miles and a spectacular 360-degree view if you're willing to trek the extra half-mile up the technical slope to the top of Smith Mountain.

What to pack
If you're just doing a day hike, bring lots of water and protection from the sun. If you'd like to continue to Bear Creek, depending on the amount of recent rain, you will be able to refill at the base of the slope a few miles down. Pack as you would for most other nights in the woods, but be advised, the weather can be quite cool by the stream.
