The San Gorgonio Overlook trail via PCT is a challenging 10.2-mile out-and-back hike starting from the Whitewater Preserve in Southern California. This scenic trek offers spectacular views of Mount San Gorgonio, Southern California's highest peak, while traversing through the diverse landscapes of the San Gorgonio Wilderness.

Beginning at the well-maintained Whitewater Preserve (elevation 2,700 feet), hikers follow the Pacific Crest Trail as it steadily climbs through the dramatic Whitewater Canyon. The trail gains approximately 1,800 feet in elevation, offering increasingly panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The path is well-marked but exposed, winding through desert chaparral dotted with yucca, manzanita, and seasonal wildflowers.

A highlight of this hike is reaching the San Gorgonio Overlook, which provides breathtaking views of Mount San Gorgonio, San Jacinto Peak, and on clear days, glimpses of the distant Salton Sea. The overlook also offers views of the distinctive Mesa Wind Farm, creating an interesting contrast between natural wilderness and renewable energy infrastructure.
