Sequoia Trail at Big Basin Redwoods SP is temporarily closed. Get updates and more details at Parks.CA.Gov.

This 5.7-mile hike in Big Basin Redwoods SP is a peaceful break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

In the first half, there is a quick detour you can take to Sempervirens Falls.  Just listen for sounds of water, read the signs, and cross the road.  The detour itself is as far as crossing the road, so do it!

After the waterfall detour is the hardest part of the hike, an uphill section that is reminiscent of walking on lava fields at Hawaii Volcanoes NP.

The trail head starts on the same side of the park as the visitor's center.  It is less crowded as most people usually hike the main parking lot side.

This trail is a good alternative when you're not up to the 13ish miles to see all the waterfalls. This trail does pass one waterfall, but it is a little out of the way on the other side of the road, so you need to look for signs as it is not directly on the trail.
