Description

Added by Kelly Drake

A short hike to beautiful 360° views of Mammoth Lakes.

This is a great short hike, located near the turn off for Twin Lakes. Once you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with 360 degree views of the lakes basin, the town, Mammoth Mountain, and the White Mountains. There was a little snow left at the top, when we hiked it over Memorial Day weekend.  Even if Lake Mary Road is closed off, this trail is accessible.  You can take the lakes basin trolley, park off the road near the trailhead, or in the Twin Lakes Vista lot.  I’ve heard this is also accessible during the winter with snowshoes.  If you want to continue your trek, consider extending to Mammoth Rock.

Panorama Dome Reviews

Panorama Dome is located in town just before you hit Twin Lakes. You can either park in the established parking lot off Lake Mary Road or park in the pull-off just before the trailhead. The hike can be ~0.5 miles out-and-back if you choose not to do the loop, but with that said, the lakes basin bike path is a pretty easy/pleasant stroll. From the top of the dome, take in scenic views of town and Twin Lakes. After the hike, stop off at Distant Brewing or Public House for a well-deserved cold one!
