Description

McNee Ranch to Planet of the Apes is a scenic hike with ocean views.

McNee Ranch to Planet of the Apes is a 4.8 mile trail located near Montara State Beach that offers ocean views when it is not too cloudy.  You can get amazing views when you hike up above the clouds.  This hike follows one of the main trails up the mountain, but there are many smaller trails to explore as well.  The trail starts off with a mild incline, and becomes harder near the top.  At the top you can see both the ocean side and the Bay.

Parking can be found at Montara State Beach Parking, a little ways down the road from the trailhead.  If hiking near sunset, you'll want to make sure you have a flashlight or reflective gear on for the walk back to your car.

Dogs are allowed on-leash.

Route: Old San Pedro Mountain Road > North Peak Access Road (you can take North Peak back to the trailhead).
