Carson River Hot Springs located near Markleeville, California is accessible via a river float, a 4-wheel drive vehicle with high clearance during the summer months, but most commonly, via a hiking trail.
One of the most incredible pools sits over the river. Another hot spring sits just upstream of the previously mentioned pool and is warmer. If you're up for an even greater adventure, additional hot springs exist about one mile upstream and downstream of the East Fork of the Carson River. These will require a bit of searching to find, so please be respectful of the area and know your limitations if you choose to explore.
There is camping available near the hot springs with both beach and forest options.
