In 1991, Hollywood resident Gail Cottman purchased a small plot beneath her Hollywood Hills home, originally planning a rose garden. It expanded into a magical homage to "The Wizard of Oz," inspired by a contractor's decorative touch on her concrete bed of roses.

Cottman's Garden of Oz features a Yellow Brick Road path winding through thousands of shining tiles, adorned with mosaics, a crystal ball, and a whimsical "Wall of Toys." The garden includes thrones honoring figures like Elvis Presley, Duke Ellington, Rosa Parks, the Dalai Lama, and Musako Morioka, a Hiroshima survivor.

Per Yelp, the gate is open for visitors when the gardner is present, which may shorten the hours the garden is open or change the next available date.
