Hike up to the amazing Taktsang monetary, perched on a cliff over 1,000 ft off the valley floor.
From the parking lot, find the dirt trail (located somewhere in the mass of donkeys) and begin your way up. The trail is very defined and you will slowly wind your way up through a series of switch backs. While walking you will see many smaller paths leading off the main path. These are all shortcuts and lead to the same place. The short cuts are a great way to save time but be careful because they are very steep and can be slippery. About halfway up there is a small restaurant and shop where you can stop to get some food. From here continue your way up until you reach the first real viewpoint of the monastery. From here the trail goes steeply down to a large waterfall and bridge covered in prayer flags. Once you cross the bridge you have your final steep climb up a series of steps to the monastery. If you plan to go into the monastery make sure you (or your guide) has purchased tickets at the base of the hike. It can also get quite cold inside the monastery so don't forget a coat! While this hike is a constant climb uphill, it only takes around 2 hours to get up and the views are well worth it.
