Train your sport climbing, via ferrata and abseiling skills in the most breathtaking surroundings

A short walk from the top lift station of Schlick 2000 in the Stubai valley is the "Alpin Erlebnispark". This area is an amazing spot to train your mountain stills in some of the most beautiful scenery in the Stubai valley.

Reaching the area is easy. From the lift exit, keep walking straight and follow the small hikers path up towards the Kreuzjoch summit cross. You'll see yellow signs towards the Alpinerlebnispark so it's hard to miss. The trail is narrow and one corner is a little exposed, so if you are with children, keep them close by for the walk over. You'll reach the base of the first rocks after about 5 minutes.

The first thing you'll reach is an abseil (rappelling) rock on your left, which has a heavy duty chain fixed at the top for your to set up your abseil off. The height (according to the website is 25m).

A few meters further ahead you'll reach the "Kinderkletterfells" (children's climbing wall") where there are 3-4 easy bolted routes at around grades III-IV for sport climbing (around 15m in length).

To the right hand side is the start of the first, and easiest of the via ferrata routes, a 30m long "training" route.

You'll find another couple of easy via ferratas to climb once you've completed the first one. They are all fairly short, with difficulty ratings of B/C and one short training route that is a D- that you can try if you want to.

For more accomplished sport climbers, there are also some more challenging routes up to grade VII around the corner.

With Schlick 2000, the climbs might not be the most challenging, or the longest. But this small resort in the Stubai valley is one of my favourites in winter and in summer for it's incredible scenery.
