Description

Added by Marti Chance

A hike with an unassuming start that opens up into a beautiful coastal views and ends at the beach.

The hike starts at the Snake Lagoon parking lot (within Flinders Chase National Park). From the parking lot, proceed past the campsites to the trailhead. The trail winds down through a shaded, wooded area for about a kilometer before opening up at the river. Cross the river and follow it down towards the beach (about another kilometer). Return along the same path.

Other important information:

  • There are bathrooms and ~10 car/tent campsites at the trailhead
  • The beach is not patrolled
  • Check at the visitors center regarding water availability at the trailhead. There is no drinking water elsewhere on the hike.
  • Snake Lagoon parking lot is several kilometers down a gravel road; this was passable via 2WD when I was there, but check with the visitors center before heading out.
