Two wonderful hikes in one! Enjoy the serenity through the Rock Valley Trail before viewing the beautiful vistas of Pinnacle Mountain at the tail end of the East Quarry Trail.
The Rock Valley Trail and East Quarry Trail trailheads can be found on the Southeast side of the vistors center parking lot (Make sure the take the small walk up the stairs to the nearby overlook before your hike). This portion of the trail is heavily wood and is easy to moderate with little incline in elevation. Continue to follow the green markers along the Rock Valley trail until you reach the sign for East Quarry Trail, which is around the midpoint of the trail. Here you can continue on the Rock Valley Trail loop and head back towards to visitors center, or head on along spur following the East Quarry Trail, again following the green markers. This short 1/2 mile trail has steep inclines to gain access to the scenic overlook. Follow the trail until you reach the H.L. Dickson Overlook for a great photo-op. You can then continue down a small staircase to the end of the trail with more scenic views of Pinnacle Mountain and the Arkansas River Valley.
The Rock Valley Trail loop takes about an hour and a half to complete, while continuing on towards the East Quarry Trail will add another half hour.

Reviews
Leave a ReviewNice quiet hike
Leave the crowd at Pinnacle Mountain and enjoy this easy hike. With a nice overlook at the beginning and scenic views at the middle point, it’s my favorite hike in the LR area.
