Take a section of the Buffalo River Trail to a gorgeous campground on the banks of the Buffalo National River. Enjoy stunning rock formations and scenic overlooks on this short two mile hike.
Start this adventure by crossing the Ponca Low Water Bridge over the beautiful Buffalo National River and proceed up the path till you reach the trail sign on the other side. You have the option of going either right or left at this point, follow the sign to the left and you will see a gate (simply there to keep motor vehicles off of the trail). Follow the trail around the gate underneath the Bridge that crosses over the Buffalo River. From here the trail is very easy to follow the entire way. Throughout this hike you will come across several overlooks that give you sweeping view of the river itself. Aside from views of the river you can come across some awesome rock formations that are definitely worth exploring! This trail is only 2 miles one way, however, if you do not want to do a roundtrip hike simply park one car at Steel Creek Campground and create a shuttle for yourself back to the Low Water Bridge.
IMPORTANT: There is no overnight parking allowed at the low water bridge.
